On 13 – 14 September 2010 International Security Conference GLOBSEC 2010 will be held in Bratislava. This conference, organized by the Slovak Atlantic Commission and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic, in cooperation with other partners, belongs to the well established and respected foreign and security policy conferences in Central Europe. Since 2005 annual GLOBSEC conferences represent a unique international security forum that gathers intellectual leaders from both sides of the Atlantic as well as key personalities representing governments, non-governmental organizations and corporations to discuss the most pertinent foreign policy and security issues.

Conference is to be held during Slovakia’s presidency of the Visegrad Four Group. Participants shall discuss over two days wide variety of key questions relevant to the future of the security of the European continent. Starting with assessment of the aspirations of the post-Lisbon European Union as a global player, it will deal with the proposal to update the Euro-Atlantic security architecture, impact of the new Strategic Concept of NATO on our security perceptions as well as political and security development in Afghanistan. Substantial part of the event will be also devoted to the European neighborhood with emphasis on Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia. Far from being the least interesting point of the agenda, the conference is expected to touch upon the consequences of the economic crisis on global security and power balance.
